Speaking at the recent Australia Bicycle Summit held on the 14 - 15 of May 2019, John Burke from Trek introduced Places for Bikes.
At the moment in the USA, PlacesForBikes City Ratings offer a data-driven approach to identifying the best U.S. towns for bicycling and rewarding those that are improving the fastest.
The ratings are based on five factors: Ridership, Safety, Network, Reach and Acceleration. It includes publicly available data from government sources and new data gathered from our Community Survey, City Snapshots, and Bicycle Network Analysis tool.
City Snapshot – for city officials
The City Snapshot gathers data on a city’s existing bike network and planned improvements to provide a full picture of bicycling in the community.
Community Survey – for everyone
The Community Survey asks questions such as how safe biking feels, whether it’s getting better, and about favourite places to ride in your hometown.
Bicycle Network Analysis
The Bicycle Network Analysis helps communities assess the degree to which people can comfortably bike to the places they want to go.
